A Time to Rest
Jesus said, “Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.” Mark 6:31
McKenzie and I have talked a lot about balancing life and rest over the years. God made us body, soul, and spirit. These rely upon one another and affect one another.
When Jesus lived on earth, He took on a physical body. He understood the importance of working hard and taking time to love others. But, because He was in a body, He also understood the importance of rest and solitude.
While we may desire to be an excellent employee, a good friend, and an amazing church member, we have to remember that one person can only physically do so much.
The Christian life is simple. We tend to complicate things. We cannot be the witnesses for Christ we should be, nor can we serve our family and our church family or our community as we should, if we burn the candle at both ends.
To find God’s simple balance, this takes prayerfulness and listening. The balance will never be found in rushing around without seeking God or filling our life with constant noise (tv, social media, etc).
How is God speaking to you about this? He wants us to rest, yes! He also wants us to serve Him and bring Him glory until He comes back or until our life here on earth is over.
Jesus rested. As we talked about Wednesday, after Elijah’s major spiritual battle and victory, he rested. It’s okay to serve God, work hard, and have fun, but have you really taken time to rest?

SoCal Harvest
We get to go serve Jesus and encourage new believers in their walk with the Lord at SoCal Harvest. Some of the top Christian bands will be there leading us as we worship Jesus, and Pastor Greg Laurie will deliver a powerful Gospel message. Mark your calendars and plan to go with us. Invitations and bumper stickers will be available soon to help us get the word out.
July 13-15
Crosspoint Camping Trip
Join us in the San Bernardino Mountains for a few days in the great outdoors. You will enjoy a valuable time of fellowship and strengthening for our church family. Don't miss out!All meals included. Special dietary needs are your own responsibility.
