What a Faithful Friend!
Jesus is such a faithful friend! I was thinking today about how often we are not faithful to Him, yet He never fails to be faithful to us. In His love, He continues to offer forgiveness and restoration to us when we sin. Any time there is a breach in our fellowship, it is certainly not because of Him.
He speaks to us about the areas of our lives that are displeasing to Him - those things that put distance between us and Him. He wants to be close, and He graciously calls us back into the close communion we once enjoyed.
Walking closely with Jesus puts us in a place to be blessed and to experience the fruit of the Spirit being produced in us.
How is your fellowship with Jesus? Are you truly walking closely with Him? If not, what is causing the distance? What would keep you from addressing that with Him right now?
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Also, having experienced this kind of friendship, let’s follow Jesus’s example and be this kind of friend to others. Let’s be the kind of friend that encourages a close walk with Jesus. Let’s be the kind to lovingly speak to a friend who may be drifting away. Let’s be faithful friends!
Consider these verses about friendship and ask the Lord to help you be this kind of friend.
Proverbs 17:17 A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.
Proverbs 27:6 Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.
Proverbs 27:9 Ointment and perfume rejoice the heart: so doth the sweetness of a man's friend by hearty counsel.
Proverbs 27:17 Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.
