I’m an adult ⚠️🚫⛔️
“I’m an adult!”
“I don’t need anyone telling me what to do.”
“I have to do what I feel/think is right.”
“To me, it really isn’t that big of a deal.”
Have you ever heard someone say these things? Have you ever said these things? Throughout my years in ministry, I have often heard these things stated by people who have made up their minds that they are going to live their way as opposed to God’s. Although many times there is a clear warning or command in Scripture, they “feel” that they can make the decision to disobey God, and somehow it will all work out.
Just like we’ve been seeing in our Bible study on Wednesdays, from the book of Judges, our culture today is accustomed to living according to how we feel instead of living by what is true.
Moses said to the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and the half tribe of Manasseh, “Be sure your sin will find you out.” He was warning them against turning away from their commitments to God and following their own pleasure/desire/feelings. It never works out well.
As the people of God, our lives should distinctly reflect the grace and love of Jesus Christ, and we should also reflect His holiness. We must not live our own way - doing what is right in our eyes. We may not understand how or why God would lead us a certain way, but rest assured, His way is perfect.
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life…
So let me ask you - Is there anything that you are doing that God has told you you shouldn’t? You feel guilty about it. You keep falling into the same trap over and over. Why not choose to live in the freedom Jesus has promised?
Proverbs 28:13 He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.
