Working parts đźš—
1 Corinthians 12:18, 20, & 27 But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him. 20 But now are they many members, yet but one body. 27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.
This morning, I went to start my van and heard the old familiar click, click, click that comes from an engine that is trying to start but doesn’t have the power to do so. I had to take out my jumper cables and pull McKenzie’s car around to give the van a jump start.
As you know, a van is made up of a lot of parts. Not all of them do the same thing. All of the other parts would work well, but this one just was not working. My van needed a little extra help because one of its parts was not working according to its design and the manufacturer’s intent.
Sometimes, the battery needs to be recharged. Sometimes, the connections need to be cleaned. Sometimes, the engine needs oil.
A church is very similar in that we are a lot of diverse parts working together to accomplish one purpose. Our purpose is to reflect the glory of “our Manufacturer” and to reach other people for His kingdom.
When one part of us is not working like we are supposed to, that part needs attention. The whole body cannot live up to God’s purpose for us if we are not working together properly.
- Take daily time with the Lord to “tune up” your walk with Him.
- Reach out to others and ask for help when you’re struggling.
- Be faithful to church and come ready to bless others.
