Love and grace 🫶
2 Peter 3:18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
Grace. The songwriter called it “Amazing.” It is by grace that we are saved. It is by grace that we are able to draw near to God. It is by grace that our burdens are lifted. It is by grace that we grow in our knowledge of and likeness to Jesus Christ.
It is by grace that our sins are forgiven and we are saved. Why would He do that? Because of His great love.
Ephesians 2:4-5 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, 5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
1 John 4:11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
The definition of grace, according to biblical usage, is: favor, disposed to, inclined, favorable towards, leaning towards to share benefit. The Greek word translated grace is “xáris” (charis) and is preeminently used in Scripture to refer to the Lord's favor – freely extended to give Himself away to people.
Because of the grace we have received, God tells us that we, His children, can love each other by showing grace to each other. When others treat us unkindly, we are called to forgive - just like Jesus forgives us, not because we deserve it and not because they deserve it, but because of what God did for us.
